The 10 Pieces of Advice I Wish I Knew

  1. Bring only a few people with you

Otherwise it gets overwhelming with opinions!

  2. Let your guests know to bite their tongue until AFTER you’ve made your own opinion!!!

Many dressing rooms don’t have mirrors, so you’re seeing the gown on for the first itme with everyone else. You may love a dress but can’t even get that first word out before someone crinkles their nose in distaste.

  3. Try on ALLLLL of the styles

Even if you’re 100% dead set on a mermaid gown, this is your time to see what they all look like!! You may surprise yourself with what you end up loving!

4. Have the store professionals pick out a few favs for you to try on

They see brides all day err day and have some insight on what looks best for each body type!

5. Have your hair and makeup looking semi-good

t’s hard to picture yourself as a bride with a messy bun and no lipstick!

6. Let the store associate know what your budget is before you start looking so they can guide you

Nothing worse than falling in love with a gown only to learn it’s 5x more than you’re prepared to spend

7. Take pics of yourself in each one from all angles

If you’re not totally sure and want to sleep on it, it helps to see how it’ll photograph

8. Pay attention to your comfort level

If it’s 800 layers of fabric and you’re getting married outdoors in July, you will more than likely be sweating and uncomfortable the entire wedding

9. Leave plenty of time!!

It can take a few trips to find the perfect dress, and most stores take 6-8 months for it to be delivered. You then need time for 3+ fittings! Don’t wait too long!

10. You’ll learn very quickly that everyone has an opinion

At the end of the day, YOU have to feel like a princess! If they love one you hate or hate one that you love…say thank you but please shhh! Listen to your gut. It’s your day, not theirs!
